January 26, 2016 (EIRNS)—EIR’s Forum today at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., featured Schiller Institute Founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche, an internationally recognized expert on the Eurasian Land-Bridge and the New Silk Road and scientist Thomas Wysmuller, former NASA meteorologist and activist with the  "The Right Climate Stuff." The event was moderated by EIR’s Michael Billington, and was well attended, despite 36 inches of snow, which had closed down the Congressional session for the entire week, as well as area schools, governments and other enterprises in Washington, D.C.

The attendees included a prominent rocket scientist from the JFK era, a Democratic Party pre-candidate for Congress from the area, Russian press, international trade layers, embassy representation, and local activists.

Thomas Wysmuller opened the Forum with 12 powerful graphics handed out to all attendees, allowing them to follow, graphic by graphic, his exposure of claims that the COP21 proposals could reduce CO2; graphs exposing that the 7,500-Year Spike in Post-Glacial Sea Level Rise leveled off in the last 8,000 years, and much more—an open-and-shut case. The clarity of Mr. Wysmuller’s presentation had a powerful effect on the audience.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche then gave a 50-minute tour d’horizon (see transcript) of the strategic situation: the threat of nuclear war, pointing out that today there was no "code of behavior," as there was between Kennedy and Khruhschev in the 1960s; the imminent financial collapse which former BIS Chair William White pointed to at Davos; the plan for global bail-in, which can’t work, and the refugee crisis that is tearing Europe apart. Mrs. Zepp-LaRouche said that, if even German Finance Minister Schauble can say the Mideast needs a Marshall Plan, this shows the world can change, and it emphasizes the importance of the work of the Schiller Institute and the international LaRouche movement behind the potential of the Chinese One Road One Belt solution. An intense discussion period followed the presentations.
