Translations

“Bist du bei mir” : “Abide with Me”

Bist du bei mir, geh’ ich mit Freuden Zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh.
Ach, wie vergnügt wär so mein Ende, es drückten deine lieben Hände mir die getreuen Augen zu!

Abide with me, and I shall go joyfully to my death, and to my peace!
Oh! how pleasant my end would be thus, were it your loving hands pressing closed my devoted eyes.

“I love you, dunes of snow in the North” 我爱你, 塞北的雪 ( wo ai ni, sai bei de xue )

I love you, dunes of snow in the North, Fluttering and filling the whole sky and covering the land.. Your dance is light and graceful. Your heart is pure and clean, You are the spring-rain's sister, The envoy sent by spring, the spring envoy.

I love you, dunes of snow in the North, Fluttering and filling the whole sky and covering the land.. You use white jade as your body, dressing a sparkling world, You let life dissolve into the earth, Moistering the roots to turn the wheat-seedlings green, Welcoming the flowers of spring.

The Flowing Brook 小河淌水 ( xiao he tang shui ), from Yunnan

Oh, the moon is rising and its shine illuminates everything, Makes me think about my younger sister deep in the mountain. My sister strides like the bright moon in the sky, Oh sister, sister! Sister! I flow like a calm brook at the foot of the mountain.

Oh, the moon is rising and lights up half of the slope, I see the bright moon and think of my sister, Who tarries deep in the mountain, Oh sister, sister! Sister! Do you hear how I call after you?

Shepherd's song 牧歌 ( mu ge ), from Inner Mongolia

White clouds float in the blue sky. Under the white clouds graze a snow-white flock of sheep.

The flock of sheep looks like white silver. Scattered over the grassland, they are immensely loved by all.
